It is famous for being one of the few structures in the city to survive the French colonial destruction of the Hanoi Citadel in the late 19th century.<\/p>\n<p>The tower stands 33.4 metres tall, consisting of a three-tiered base and an octagonal column topped with a flag pole. Visitors can climb the internal spiral staircase to reach the observation deck for a view of the surrounding area and the nearby Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. A unique detail for those who visit is the narrow, winding nature of the internal stairs, which requires careful navigation.<\/p>\n<p>This site serves as a significant landmark for understanding the military history of the region.
