The area has plenty of restaurants, cafés, small bars, and convenience stores, and many places are within walking or cycling distance. It also gives you easy access to Tam Coc, Bich Dong Pagoda, and several countryside cycling routes.

Trang An & Hang Mua — Best for Nature

Ninh Binh City — Best for Convenience

Ninh Binh City isn't the most scenic place to stay, but that doesn't mean you should rule it out entirely.

It's practical if you're arriving by train, looking for cheaper accommodation, or simply need a convenient place to spend one night. However, if you're staying for several days and want the classic countryside experience, Tam Coc or Trang An will usually be a better fit.

Those little bamboo bungalows surrounded by rice fields look fantastic in photos—and some are genuinely lovely.

But don't choose a room based on appearance alone.

Cheaper bungalows may have less sound insulation, so you may hear roosters, frogs, or other guests in the morning. Rooms surrounded by fields and ponds can also feel more humid and may have more insects.
