Lac Village is the best-known village in the Mai Chau valley, home to White Thai families who live in wooden stilt houses. The village is small and flat, with weaving looms, bamboo fences and rice fields all around, and it is easy to walk or cycle.
Many visitors stay in a homestay, share a family meal and watch a traditional dance in the evening. The village is touristy but friendly, and it is a good base for exploring the valley.
