The hill where the fiercest fighting took place, with trenches and a memorial.
A1 Hill, called Eliane 1 by the French, was the site of intense fighting in the 1954 battle. The hill rises about 32 metres above the road, and today there are preserved trenches, a bunker, a memorial and a tank that took part in the fight.
Walk the paths slowly and read the signs for context. It is a short visit of 30 to 45 minutes and is often combined with the De Castries bunker and the Victory Museum.
