The forest headquarters of the Vietnamese command, set in a quiet valley.
Muong Phang is the forest base where the Vietnamese command planned the 1954 Dien Bien Phu campaign. The site is set among trees in a quiet valley, with simple preserved buildings and bunkers that were the headquarters of General Vo Nguyen Giap.
It is about 30 km from the city, so plan a half day with Pa Khoang Lake. The setting shows how the command hid in the forest, and the walking paths are shaded.
