A cool mountain national park with a forest hike and views over the Cao Bang uplands.
Phia Oac – Phia Den is a national park on a high mountain, with Phia Oac peak at about 1,930 m. The air is cool all year, and the forest is full of mist, ferns and pine trees, with a hiking trail to the top.
The park is popular with trekkers and with local people for weekends. A common route is a day hike to the peak, or a night in the park to see the stars. It is a good side trip for active travellers on the way to or from Cao Bang.
