The 1930s summer residence of Vietnam's last emperor, preserved as a museum.
The Bao Dai Summer Palace, also known as Dinh III, was built between 1933 and 1938 as a summer home for Emperor Bao Dai, the last emperor of Vietnam, and his family. The two-storey building is in a modern style for its time, with rooms preserved as they were: the office, the family sitting rooms, bedrooms and a map room.
It stands in a pine-filled park and is one of the best places in Da Lat to see how the court lived. Visits are short, about 45 to 60 minutes. Bring comfortable shoes and expect tour groups in the middle of the day, so go in the morning.
