A seaside peninsula resort with several beaches, about 20 km from the city.
Do Son is a seaside peninsula about 20 km from central Hai Phong, and the city's oldest beach resort. The beach is divided into zones. Zone 1 is rocky with strong waves and is not for swimming. Zone 2 is the busiest, with hotels and seafood restaurants along the shore. Zone 3 is quieter.
The best months for the beach are April to October, and weekends and summer holidays are crowded. Do Son is also known for its buffalo-fighting festival, usually held on the ninth day of the eighth lunar month. Many visitors pair the beach with Hon Dau island and the old Bao Dai villa on the hill.
