A French colonial theatre in the heart of the city, still used for performances.
The Hai Phong Opera House stands at 28 Tran Hung Dao, facing a square with cafes and wide tree-lined streets. It was built between 1904 and 1912 in French colonial style, and it is still used for concerts and stage shows. The facade is lit in the evening, which is the best time for photos.
You can see the exterior at any time. Going inside usually means buying a ticket for a performance, and the programme changes through the year. The nearby streets have many French-era buildings, so the opera house makes a good start for a short walk around the old centre.
| Opening hours | Exterior can be seen at any time. Inside access is mainly during performances. |
