Overview

Khai Dinh’s tomb is one of the most ornate royal tombs in Hue. It stands on a hillside and is reached by a long flight of steps leading to the main hall, whose walls and ceiling are covered in mosaics of glass and porcelain.

It is smaller than the tombs of Minh Mang and Tu Duc, so many visitors see it in about an hour as part of a half-day tomb tour.

Highlights

  • Climb the stepped terraces to the main hall
  • See the glass-and-porcelain mosaics inside
  • Look for the stone guards and mandarins on the courtyard
  • Take photos of the valley from the upper terrace
