Overview

The Quang Tri Citadel was the centre of the 81-day battle in the summer of 1972. Almost nothing of the old walls remains. What you see now is a memorial with a monument, a small museum, and a quiet riverside park beside the Thach Han River. In 2013 the site was designated a special national monument.

Entry is free, and the site is open every day, including Sundays and holidays, from about 7:00 to 17:00. In the evening people also come to burn incense. A guide or an incense offering costs extra, and one source estimates about 350,000 VND per group. A visit usually takes 30 to 60 minutes.
